The social reintegration of prisoners is a problem affecting the whole society, which has not yet been solved. Prisons and detention centers are facing new challenges: the spread of drug use and the expansion of aggression. The average age of offenders tends to decrease while the number of those who end up in a closed institution is growing. Unlike traditional education, special education developed for detainees is intended to assist their entry and reintegration in society and to increase their employment chances on the labour market. In addition to the general education and teaching tools, there are special prison education programmes, as well as individual and group activities that facilitate learning and fill the gap on certain social, communication, emotional, cultural and learning skills and abilities. Compared to average educational situations juvenile detainees are in a special life situation. A key element in the education of the convicts is expedient employment and the constructive use of time.
